These awards are issued annually by the State Superintendent Tony Evers to recognize student progress and achievement. All of the public schools included in the awards also meet the state’s test participation, attendance and dropout (avoidance) goals. Award winners in the “Beating the Odds” category are distinguished by these two characteristics:
- They are in the top 25 percent of high-poverty schools in the state; and
- They have above-average student achievement in reading and mathematics when compared to similar schools based on size, district, grade configurations, and poverty levels.
Congratulations to our members, and all schools, that earned this recognition!
